ANNOUNCEMENT

In 2017 UNESCO established "UNESCO/UNITWIN Interregional Network on PhD Education and Research in Biophysics, Biotechnology and Environmental Health" at Life Sciences International Postgraduate Educational Center.

 

The NETWORK is organized in partnership with the following universities:

 

  • Institute for Health and the Environment of University at Albany (USA),
  • Stony Brook University (USA),
  • Graduate School of Biological Sciences at Southampton University (UK),
  • Bogomoletz Institute of Physiology (Ukraine),
  • Cairo University (Egypt), 
  • Istanbul Medeniyet University (Turkey),
  • UNESCO Chair on Interdisciplinary Research in Diabetes at University of Tehran (Iran),
  • Jamia Hamdard University (India).

 

In compliance with the PhD program (66 USA credits) of Institute for Health and the Environment of University at Albany (USA) and Graduate School of Biological Sciences at Southampton University (UK) the NETWORK prepares modern science leaders in Biophysics, Biotechnology and Environmental Health. Theoretical courses (core and supporting) are realized through Distant Education System and are conducted by an international team of leading scientists. The PhD students have the opportunity to conduct the research part of their dissertation in laboratories of partner universities.

 

The students will be engaged in the Network’s research activities carried out in the framework of international grants, and will get commensurate remuneration. The best alumni will become faculty members.

 

The graduates receive an appropriate diploma of the international standard according to the regulations of home country as well as the certificate of the Network with an indication of the credits gained.

 

The duration of PhD program is 3-4 years depending on the subject of investigation and background education.

 

The annual tuition fee for the students enrolled in PhD program is 5000USD. The annual tuition fee of 3000 USD is covered by the students of Armenian descent. The remaining 2000 USD will be compensated by UNESCO Chair in Life Sciences.

 

There are general admission requirements applicable to all. To be considered for admission to the Network’s academic program, all qualified applicants should present:

the below-mentioned documents, which should be sent to info@biophys.am e-mail address:

 

  • a copy of applicant's MS diploma in Natural Sciences,
  • 4 photos,
  • 2 letters of recommendation from advanced scientists of the appropriate area.

 

After accepting the documents from the potential students the entrance examinations will be organized to choose the students on the competition basis. The applicants will be examined according to their major and regulations of home institution. The students should possess an advanced level of English before enrollment in the academic program. Those applicants who have publications in international journals will have priority in being accepted to the program.

 

The selected applicant will have an opportunity to participate in the “Workshop on Modern problems of Biophysics, Biotechnology and Environmental Health” which will be held during August 6-8, Garni, Armenia. Their participation will be free of charge.

 

 For the 2018-2019 academic year the deadline of applications is June 31, 2018.
