The Geneva Lake Workshop - UNESCO academic network towards the 2030 Agenda

 

The expert meeting/workshop of selected UNESCO Chairs' representatives and members of the Scientific Committee on Natural Sciences of UNESCO was held in March, 7-9, Laussane, Switzerland. The meeting developed the discussions held in Geneva during the Conference ‘Mobilizing UNESCO Chairs in the Natural Sciences for Policy Action towards the 2030 Agenda’ (5-7 July 2017) and on the ‘Geneva Milestone’ outcome document endorsed on that occasion.
The Workshop was aimed at fostering joint reflections and identifying the most pertinent actions needed in order to (i) put in practice the ‘Geneva Milestone’ recommendations, (ii) elaborate a follow-up strategy that reflects the needs and perspectives of both UNESCO and its network of Chairs, and (iii) promote stronger collaborations with, and ownership of, the latter on the whole follow-up process.The Workshop was also an occasion to (iv) build the UNESCO Chairs’ capacities on how to communicate science and all activities linked to the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda to the general public / international organizations / Members States, via the development of a communication and knowledge-sharing platform or other communication tools. Head of UNESCO chair in Life Sciences - Prof. Sinerik Ayrapetyan was invited to the meeting as a selected member of the Scientific Committee to present reccommendations and contribute with the inputs to the finalization of Geneva Action Plan.

 

 

 

 

 

 

5th International Scientific Congress “Globalistics-2017” 

Moscow, Russia, September 25-30, 2017

 

The 5th International Scientific Congress “Globalistics-2017” was held on September 25-30, 2017 at the Lomonosov Moscow State University traditionally organizing and hosting the Congresses “Globalistics” since 2009. In the Year of Ecology proclaimed for 2017 by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin thus drawing attention to environmental problems and the necessity to maintain the ecological diversity and to protect the global ecological security, the Congress “Globalistics-2017” focused on global ecology and sustainable development. Prof. Sinerik Ayrapetyan was invited to present a talk on "UNITWIN Interregional Network on PhD Education and Research in Biophysics, Biotechnology and Environmental Health" initiated by UNESCO Chair in Life Sciences (Armenia).

 

 

 

 

“Nutrition: from Laboratory Research to Clinical Studies (NLRCS)”

Mashhad, Iran, September 6-8, 2017

 

“Nutrition: from Laboratory Research to Clinical Studies (NLRCS)” was held September 6-8, 2017 in Mashhad, Iran. This congress comprised 6 parallel panels including Human Nutrition & Health, Molecular mechanisms in Obesity, metabolic syndrome and related disorders, Molecular Medicine and Nutritional Diseases, Basic Sciences Studies in the Field of Genetics, Nutrition and Nutrigenomics, Nutrition and Cardiovascular Diseases, Food Sciences and security. The program highlighted some recent breakthrough stories and successes in this particular field. Mobilizing UNESCO Chairs for policy action towards the 2030 Agenda

Switzerland, Geneva,  5 - 7 July, 2017

In cooperation with the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and in collaboration with the Swiss UNESCO National Comission, UNESCO organized the first ever conference of all UNESCO Chairs in the Natural Sciences, which was dedicated to “Mobilizing UNESCO Chairs for policy action towards the 2030 Agenda” and will be held during 5 - 7 July 2017 in Geneva, Switzerland. The Chairholder of UNESCO Chair in Life Sciences - Prof. Sinerik Ayrapetyan was invited to participate in this conference and present a talk on "Interregional UNITWIN Educational and Research Networks for Preserving Scientific Heritage". The Chairholder of UNESCO Chair in Life Sciences - Prof. Sinerik Ayrapetyan was an invited speaker in the VII Congress of Ukrainian Society for Neuroscience. VII Congress of Ukrainian Society for Neuroscience was held in Kiev, June 7 - 11, 2017 at the Bogomoletz Institute of Physiology. Prof. Sinerik Ayrapetyan presented a talk on "Water Molecule as a Quantum-mechanical Sensor and Primary Messenger for Cell  Signaling"

In December 16–19 2013, UNESCO Chair in Life Sciences with Oxford Summit of Leaders organized a round table on the problem of creation of "European Postgraduate Educational and Research Capacity Building Program in Biophysics and Environmental Sciences of UNITWIN/UNESCO".
The main topics for discussion were: new trends in higher education, the presentation of scientific advances and emerging innovative solutions, the popularization of modern educational programmes and methods, and the extending of international cooperation in scientific and educational sphere.

 

 

 

"V. I. Vernadsky and the Global Problems of Modern Civilization"

The conference was devoted to the 150th anniversary of the birthday of the outstanding thinker of the XX th century V. Vernadsky, whose ideas played a considerable role in the modern scientific world.
V.I.Vernadsky was the Rector of Taurida University during 1920-1921. V. I. Vernadsky's anniversary in accordance with the decision of UNESCO was included in the international calendar of memorable dates in 2013.
With participation of UNESCO Chairs of CIS Session -C 6.1 Education for sustainable Noosphere Development  was organzied. Chairs of the session were Prof. Sinerik Ayrapetyan and Bokova V.A.
