On September 6-9, 2016 the UNESCO Chair of Life Sciences International Postgraduate Educational Center organized the 9th EMF International Workshop: Bioelectromagnetics and Water Science to Aid Environmental Health Defence in Garni, Armenia.

The main topics for discussion were: new trends in higher education, the presentation of scientific advances and emerging innovative solutions, the popularization of modern educational programmes and methods and extending international cooperation in scientific and educational sphere.

The conference was devoted to the 150th anniversary of the birthday of the outstanding thinker of the XXth century V. Vernadsky, whose ideas played a considerable role in the modern scientific world. V. I. Vernadsky's anniversary in accordance with the decision of UNESCO was included in the international calendar of memorable dates in 2013.

During the International Conferences: "Education and Capacity Building in Biophysics: Needs of Asia-African Region" (22-27 February 2003, India and 1-2 March 2005,Yerevan) organized by International Union for Pure and Applied Biophysics (IUPAB) our Chair was accepted as a model for organization of UNESCO Postgraduate University.

During the regional Workshop organized by FAO (Yerevan, 2003) it was decided to establish the UNESCO Chair in Agrobiotechnology for realization of postgraduate programs in Agrobiotechnology for MS and PhD.
